APPLICATIONS OPEN FOR OUR YOUNG CREATIVE PROGRAMME
The Multi-Story Orchestra Young Creatives are a core group of young people aged 16-18. They are paid artists who work with industry professionals to create and perform music with our orchestral musicians. As well as their creative tasks, they also support behind the scenes, working on marketing and communications.
We are currently recruiting for new young creatives for our 2026/2027 cohort. We want to encourage any young person who has an interest in being creative to apply, regardless their experience level. This is including but not limited to: singers or rappers.

Young Creatives are the heart of Multi-Story Orchestra.
Our Young Creatives join us through the schools and communities we work with across south London.
They bring curiosity, creativity and a wide range of experiences into the room, creating work that feels relevant, honest and rooted in the lives of young people today.
Being a Young Creative means being a collaborator. They write songs, develop ideas, shape performances and work closely with composers, writers, directors and musicians throughout the creative process.
Their voices have been at the centre of Multi-Story Orchestra's work for the last six years, helping us create original performances that connect with audiences and celebrate the power of making music together.

APPLICATION DEADLINE 30TH SEPTEMBER 2026
After you have submitted your application, we will invite a select few to take part in a taster song-writing session based on one of our previous shows with our current Young Creatives.
(Please note: This is NOT an audition, it is simply a chance for us to meet you and for you to meet the team and see how we work)

To be eligible to join the Young Creatives Scheme you must be:
Between 16 and 18 years old (*15 year olds can apply as long as they turn 16 before the 1st of November)
Must live within the Southwark, Lambeth and Croydon council areas
Must have taken part in a Multi-Story Orchestra project in the past/will be taking part in September project shows

30th September - STAGE 1 Applications Due
9th October - All applicants contacted on whether you have been unsuccessful or moving to STAGE 2.
15th October (6pm - 9pm): STAGE 2 Song writing Session
22nd October: All applicants contacted on whether you have been unsuccessful or successful in joining the 2026/27 Young Creatives cohort
29th October (10am - 5pm) - Induction Day (for successful applicants)

Multi-Story Orchestra brings together professional artists and young people to create original music that tells real-life stories and amplifies unheard voices.
Founded in 2011, we have spent more than a decade pioneering youth-led orchestral music in communities across the UK. Our home is at Bold Tendencies in Peckham, South London, and our work brings together Young Creatives, professional musicians, local school choirs and audiences to create ambitious new performances rooted in lived experience.

Our values of creativity, collaboration and community guide everything we do. Young people are not simply participants in our work; they are collaborators, creators and leaders whose experiences shape the stories we tell and the music we make.

Our performances have explored themes including identity, belonging, social media, climate change, ambition, family and community. Through long-term creative relationships, we support young people to develop as artists while creating powerful new music that speaks to contemporary life.

Over the years, Multi-Story Orchestra has performed at venues including Bold Tendencies, Southbank Centre, Fairfield Halls and internationally at Salzburg State Theatre. In 2024, the Orchestra received a Royal Philharmonic Society Award for The Endz, and in 2023 became an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation.
