“Failure’s not an option, pick up my tears and go…”
Mercy is the girl everyone expects big things from. Top of the class. Celebrated by her teachers as Most Likely To Succeed. A bright future mapped out before she’s even had a chance to choose it herself. At home though, something is missing. Unseen by her family, it’s only her Grandad who recognises what she’s really worth – not her grades, but her words.
But when tragedy cracks the foundation of Mercy’s world and the pressure to be perfect reaches breaking point, she must confront a question she’s been avoiding: who is she really performing for?
A funny, fierce and deeply moving coming-of-age story about ambition, family, and the cost of silence. With original music from Multi-Story’s Young Creatives, developed with Yshani Perinpanayagam, and Gabrielle Chudi, Have Mercy wrestles with what happens when the version of yourself you’ve been presenting to the world stops being enough – and whether it’s ever too late to claim your own voice.
Have Mercy was created by The Multi-Story Orchestra:
Yshani Perinpanayagam - Composer and Orchestrator
Gabrielle Chudi - Song writer
