Following acclaimed sold-out performances in 2023, Multi-Story Orchestra went on to create a brand new, highly relatable and innovative reimagining of 'Verified', which premieres at Peckham’s Bold Tendencies on 4 July. They have also been invited back to perform Verified as part of this year's Southbank Centre’s classical music programme.
With a fresh set of dynamic songs penned by Multi-Story Orchestra’s own Young Artists, as well as a new script by upcoming Peckham playwright, Montel Douglas, Verified 2024 offers audiences a unique and unforgettable experience.Written entirely in rehearsal spaces in South London, the show’s narrative is influenced by the Young Artists’ relationship with social media – covering the dangers of online life as well as the search for acceptance and authenticity amidst the growing pressures of living in the digital age. Alongside the orchestral composition of acclaimed Artistic Director, Kate Whitley and direction from London-based songwriters Fran Lobo and Abimaro Gunnell, Verified is sure to be an orchestral performance unlike any other that audiences will think about long after they leave their seats.
VERIFIED is about the search for authenticity and acceptance amidst the growing pressures of social media and living in a digital age.
Featuring three original songs written by the Young Creatives and Kate Whitley, Verified blends orchestral instrumentation with contemporary styles such as R&B, reggaeton and rap under the musical leadership of songwriters Abimaro Gunnell, Frances Lobo and trombonist Yusuf Narcin.
It was first performed at Bold Tendencies in June 2023 alongside internationally acclaimed soloists from The Borletti Buitoni Trust - Ruby Hughes, Hyeyoon Park and Simone Rubino, as well as soprano Francesca Chiejina.
