Following on from his exhilarating chamber concert last year, our cellist Abel Selaocoe is back with a programme exploring dance music from across the centuries. From the eccentric Jean-Philippe Rameau (regarded as a rock star of his time) to Astor Piazzola (the father of ‘new tango’) and his Four Seasons of Buenos Aires. And then onto the contemporary composer Simon Steen-Andersen and his piece Beside Besides which explores choreography and the physicality and movement of playing an instrument. All this is knitted together with electric improvised African and Balkan rhythms performed by Abel and friends.
