These concerts, curated by Multi-Story bassoonist Joe Qiu, take a look at some of the links between pop and minimalist music. Julius Eastman’s Stay On It from 1972, a heavy dose of semi-improvised disco-inspired minimalism, will sit alongside instrumental re-workings of Björk’s arrangements of her own songs, Mary Jane Leach’s Feu de Joie (a meditation on the sonority of the bassoon) and arrangements of François Couperin’s enigmatic 18th century keyboard pieces.
