hey everyone,

My name is Dupri Mckoy and I am the new trainee here at MSO. I’ll be here for a whole year and I can’t wait to meet you all in person!

I have been a part of Multi-Story since year 8, starting off by playing the clarinet in the orchestra before joining as a Young Creative in 2022. After playing the clarinet for 2 years I decided to join the choir to develop my skills as a singer which I was more interested in. My first time singing in the choir was during the summer school performances.

My peers and I created the project you may all know called ‘The Endz’ where we reunited with Multi-Story to further the production of the piece. This is what led to me and 10 others becoming Young Creatives. I can remember my first time going to Bold Tendencies to perform in the car park as part of the orchestra. I was so surprised by the venue as I had never experienced anything like that before. Also being surrounded with professional musicians was very inspirational to me and had a great impact on my future music career.

What It’s like being a Young Creative at Multi-Story Orchestra?

Being a Young Creative is an experience I will always cherish. This role has developed me in my professional life as an artist but also my personal life. Being able to create musical pieces from scratch and to see them grow into amazing pieces of work has always been amazing to me. Especially when joined by the orchestra and school choirs.

One opportunity that being a Young Creative has given me is directing the choir at the Southbank Centre last year. Growing up I have always loved choir music and wanted to direct a choir one day. Due to me being a Young Creative I was able to achieve that goal already.
